Diamondback
Diamondback D-Frame
-
The Colt Diamondback and Detective Special are both D-Frames and can use the same grip.
Because of this FOR A RUBBER GRIP YOU USE A #48000 (see Colt Detective Special). - Detective special guns are generally small concealable handguns so we make small grips for them. The Diamondback is generally a larger target type handgun so in wood we make the grips for them larger and more hand filling.
- All Detective Special and Diamond Back revolvers are considered "D" frames. An SF-VI frame is a thicker frame in the side plate area. If it is an SF-VI revolver, it will be marked accordingly. Rubber grips will fit both standard and SF-VI frames. Wood grips must be specified. Also, Hogue grips are made only for the newer shorter frame and not a pre 1966 long D frame. Verify by measuring distance from rear side plate screw to the grip stock-pin. Older/longer frame is approx. 3 1/4", Newer/short frame is approx. 2 5/8".
- Wood grips have an open backstrap. Rubber grip is a closed backstrap.
- Will not work on long "D" or first model "D" frame's from the ' 50's
